New Yankee Workshop Episode 1812

In this episode, building a corner chair, Norm used the following tools:

Items in bold represent the first appearance of that particular tool.

There was a brief upholstering interlude for the cushion of the chair. Although not demonstrated, the webbing stretcher, upholstery shears, and tack hammer were on display.

Instead of the usual, “before using any power tools…” Norm, standing at the lathe, started the safety speech with, “before we do any woodturning…” He added a reminder at the end to use a face shield when turning.

Norm used his stacked dado set at a slight bevel to accommodate the splats. I’ve never seen him do that before.

The safety speech included video of an operation on the router table (wide board).

Field trip to Historic New England Conservation and Collection Center, Boston, Massachusetts.

Project filmed 2 and 3 November 2005.

This episode was processed based on the full length original broadcast by PBS.
