New Yankee Workshop Episode 606

In this episode, building a marble roll, Norm used the following tools:

An unusual no-new-tool episode.

Norm discussed the burn-an-inch principle of measurement, whereby the potential inaccuracies in the end of a tape measure are sidetracked by measuring from the one inch mark and adding an inch to the total measurement. Great technique so long as you remember to add the inch at the end after burning an inch at the beginning.

He also used a clever technique for approximating the desired curve in the bottom of the rails by use of the wobble dado (with its naturally curved profile) and varying degrees of tilt.

The safety speech included closeup video of a ripping operation on the contractors saw with a push stick.
