Although Norm has used a heat gun in other episodes, this one appeared for the first time in the 2008 season. No identifying labels were seen (not surprisingly for PBS) but the lines are clearly that of a Makita HG1100, although in the modern world of rebranding imports for various house names, the actual marque could be entirely different.
