Naturally there are no pictures available of the actual tools from 1989, especially when they only appeared on NYW twice. Still, here's a pretty good likeness of the Sears router table Norm used on two projects.
In both cases, he had an auxiliary fence attached, so the bit guard was not visible. Nor were there extension wings attached. I suppose I could have edited them out, but I already took out a router and a pile of lumber!
